With the Spring’s arrival comes show season for thesis exhibitions. For many photographers, their thesis show card is the first promotional material they have. Jared Kuzia’s thesis show was way back in 2011, and he is now a successful photographer in Boston. As one of his first promotional materials, he cleverly selected a striking portrait with crossover appeal in both commercial and fine art settings.
To get the most of out the cards, Kuzia designed them to be used independently as well as serve as invitations for his show. He created a sticker label with the show dates and other relevant information for the right-hand side of the card. Cards without the label were on display at the exhibition and used for months afterwards as mailers. The traditional postcard layout leaves plenty of room for a handwritten note alongside the receiver’s address.
