In Motion: Eric Antonie

This series showcases those who have expanded their artistic palate, moving from still to motion, or motion to still.

Eric Antoine’s short video Kennedy is a beautiful presentation of his new series of vasotypes, photographs on glass bottles. The bottles seem quite ordinary at first, and the photographs appear only when a dark liquid is added. The video is simple and elegant like the vasotypes themselves. The clean white background and unobtrusive music keep the viewer’s attention on the transformation of the object. Though working with still objects, by making this video Antoine is able to turn his installation into a performance. The act of pouring of the liquid mimics the development process in analog photography, adding an element of magic that is best seen in motion.
