Elias Weiss Friedman, aka The Dogist, is New York City’s most-loved dog-focused street photographer and Instagram sensation. In his short film “The Dogist,” filmmaker E.J. McLeavey-Fisher hits the streets with Friedman as he seeks out dogs of all kinds to photograph and share with over 2.3 million of his Instagram followers. Although known for his playful portraits of canines, in the film Friedman speaks about the loneliness he experiences in the city—a feeling many New Yorkers can relate to—and how he finds connection through his brief encounters with the city dogs and their owners.
