Promotional materials are essential for photographers of all disciplines. Each week we feature an outstanding promo based on its design, cleverness, and ability to accurately reflect the photographer’s aesthetic.

The Affordable Art Fair (spring) is happening this week in NYC. During my visit to the fair this past October, I picked up many promotional items. Making your promo stand out at a high traffic event like an art fair is a real challenge. ArtDog, a London-based gallery, created a clever promo that held made sure it didn’t get tossed in the trash once I got home. The front of the card shows a sampling of work from every artist they represented at the fair. Cleanly designed with their logo prominently featured it was a nice card.
The back of the card contained space to write down the title of favorite works, the artist names, and the sale prices. I don’t like to photograph particular works with my cell phone (word of advice: galleries hate this too), so having a card from the gallery with a sample of images and space for making a few notes was an excellent strategy for ArtDog’s artists to stand out.
