Game Day USA
Deadline: December 10
Mpls Photo Center
Juror: Brian Peterson
Game Day, U.S.A. is a sports photography competition that will consider images from both professional and amateur sports activities equally. From the NFL to pond hockey in the backyard, World Cup skiing to suburban soccer, we are looking for those special moments both on and off the field that convey the essence of sporting endeavors.
Among all the genres of photography, few rely on capturing "the decisive moment" more than the art and craft of sports and action photography. Unpredictable and fast, the peak action can be anywhere at anytime, and often some of the the most insightful and poignant photographs are away from the field of endeavor. Photographing sports and other competitions (whether professional or amateur) with excellence requires the perfect balance of art and technology, experience, insight, and craft. The poignant, intense and often extreme displays of athleticism and emotion that result from winning and losing can make for powerful, gut-wrenching pictures, and the best moments are fleeting.
This special exhibition of international sports photography will be on display beginning January 27 at the Mpls Photo Center, just in time to kick-off the week-long activities leading up to SuperBowl 52 at the Vikings new world-class stadium on Sunday, February 4th. Just 2 miles from U.S. Bank Stadium, the world-wide sporting audience here in the Twin Cities for this special week will have the opportunity to see YOUR pictures at the Mpls Photo Center. Please submit your best sports photographs and memories, from both on and off the playing field.
Fees: $25 for up to 3 images, $10 for each additional image up to 8.
