Call for Proposals
Deadline: September 6
Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts
Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts (LHUCA) welcomes individual and groups of artists to submit exhibition proposals in all disciplines for consideration in one of our four galleries. Selected artists will receive a two-month exhibit and $500 stipend. Gallery exhibition proposals will be selected by the LHUCA curatorial staff.
Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts (LHUCA) began as the Lubbock Regional Arts Center (LRAC) in 1997. The City of Lubbock deeded the vacant Fire Department Administration Building to LRAC in 2000, in alignment with its goal to create an arts and entertainment district in the downtown area. A capital campaign was launched, and the facility was enlarged and renovated between 2003 and 2005. LRAC was renamed the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts in honor of our co-founder in 2004. Today, LHUCA is recognized as a driving force behind the downtown revitalization plan using the arts to stimulate economic development. Creating this visual and performing arts center in the heart of the future Lubbock Cultural District helped foster a thriving arts community.
