Photographers who work with alternative processes often struggle with reproduction in promotional materials. The complex textures and imperfections of these processes generally require simplicity when it comes to design. Angela Walker’s wet plate collodion series Stilleven is wrought with the artifacts of the chemistry. To keep her promotional postcard uncluttered she fills the front of the card with a single image, saving all text and information for the reverse. Using a grey palate for continuity between the both sides of the card, Walker’s choice of small-serif font with ample spacing the between the letters adds elegance and clean lines to compliment the complicated image. Keeping it simple, Walker uses just her name and website (in san-serif font) along with the title and series of the front image.
