In Motion: Daniel Arnold – Odds and Ends

Street photographer Daniel Arnold rose to fame when Instagram notoriously shut down his popular account for posting photographs of topless beachgoers. He made headlines again when he earned $15,000 in a single day by selling prints from his account. Fascinated by his work, for three days, filmmakers Mika Altskan and Matvey Fiks followed Arnold across the five boroughs of New York City. Placing Arnold in front of the camera, we watch him shoot from the hip, invade people’s space, and grab slices of life with his camera. Walking quickly, he snaps photographs of costumed women, families at play, and teenagers weight lifting with barely a break in his stride. Whimsical animations are imposed over the footage, allowing the viewer to see Arnold’s world in a manner as magical as he does.
